Please be mindful of the following caveats before you create a checklist.
  • Eilers and Roosa described the distribution of each vascular plant species in Iowa by subdividing the state into 9 geographic regions.
  • Each of their geographic regions encompassed 9 - 12 counties and can be viewed here.
  • Any checklist will not be unique to a particular county, because plant distributions were based upon the larger geographic regions mentioned above.
    • For example, Hancock and Kossuth counties will have identical plant checklists, because both fall within Iowa's northcentral geographic region.
